Studied medicine at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). Licensed to practice medicine since 1980; has been engaged in teaching, research, and patient care in the fields of pathology and surgery at RUB facilities since 1981. Since 2002, research associate at the Center for Medical Education (ZML) of the Faculty of Medicine, focusing on the development and implementation of new examination methods, training of academic staff in these methods, and the planning, organization, administration, and evaluation of examinations. Since 2003, he has served as a trainer for various topics in higher education pedagogy, particularly regarding examinations. He is a certified trainer with the LAMA (State Academy for Medical Education of NRW).
