Head of the Department
Prof. Dr. Christian S. Ke?ler, M.A., M.Sc., is a board?certified specialist in Internal Medicine with additional qualifications in Nature-based Medicine (German: Naturheilverfahren) and Psychotherapy. He studied medicine at the Hannover Medical School, where he also completed his doctorate in 2006. Alongside his medical training, he earned a Magister Artium (M.A.) in Indology from the University of G?ttingen in 2008 and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Ayurvedic Medicine from Middlesex University (UK). His academic profile was further strengthened by his habilitation and teaching qualification in Internal Medicine with a focus on TCIM [German: Naturheilkunde/Naturheilverfahren), awarded by Charité – Universit?tsmedizin Berlin in 2020.

Before his appointment at Augsburg University Medicine, Prof. Ke?ler served from 2016 as Senior physician responsible for research, co-management of the outpatient clinic, and project coordination at the [Charité] Outpatient Department for Integrative Medicine at Immanuel Hospital Berlin-Wannsee, while also working as a senior researcher at Charité – Universit?tsmedizin Berlin. In these roles, he led several clinical research projects, advanced integrative and TCIM care concepts in the department, and oversaw several teams in scientific and tertiary care TCIM contexts.

Since November 2025, Ke?ler has held the Professorship for Integrative Health and Prevention at Augsburg University Medicine. The professorship is based at the Institute for Environmental Medicine and Integrative Health and brings together clinical care, translational research, and the evidence?based development of integrative medical approaches. As Head of the University Outpatient Clinic for Environmental Medicine, TCIM, and Integrative Health, he also contributes to patient care at the Augsburg University Medicine.

A native of Berlin who grew up in Bremen, Prof. Ke?ler is married and the father of three football?enthusiastic sons. In his free time, he is passionately devoted to music.
