The legal basis for the accreditation of degree programs leading to bachelor’s and master’s degrees is provided by Art. 10 Abs. 4 BayHSchG that states:

"Im Bereich von Studium und Lehre, insbesondere der Bachelor und Masterstudieng?nge, soll als eine der Ma?nahmen der Qualit?tssicherung eine Akkreditierung durch eine anerkannte Einrichtung erfolgen."

Accreditation is specifically regulated in the State Treaty on Higher Education Accreditation and, above all, in the Bayerischen Studienakkreditierungsverordnung (BayStudAkkV).
