For the last conference of the year 2025, Patrick Hoffmann travelled to Italy for the Second Symposium on Advancing Sustainability Research with Experimental Methods, which took place on December 4 and 5 at the University of Padua, Department of Economics?& Management “Marco?Fanno”.
The workshop gathered around 30 researchers at different stages and from different countries around the world and hosted a remarkable variety of topics related to sustainability as studied by economics, business, and psychology. The rather small size of the event allowed researchers to connect personally, receive detailed feedback, and engage in the discussion about ideas for future collaborative research.
Patrick Hoffmann presented the paper “The Give-Take Framing Effect on Groups”, which is the first collective project by the Environmental Economics working group. The paper explores whether and why teams behave more cooperatively in social dilemmas when their decision to cooperate is framed as giving to a public good instead of not-taking from it. The paper is currently in its final stage of analysis and writing and will soon be sent out for publication.
