The basic functions of public economic law are order, planning, steering, and promotion of economic activity. It is divided, depending on the systematic location of its normative bases, into constitutional economic law and administrative economic law. The former encompasses all (constitutional-law) provisions from the Basic Law that establish the foundations of economic life. The latter covers all statutory provisions, such as those from subsidy law, trade regulation, restaurant law, energy industry law, procurement law, or the law governing public enterprises.
