About
The Institute of Environmental Law, founded in 1991, is part of the Faculty of Law at the University of Augsburg. It develops the scientific basis of Constitutional Environmental Law and Administrative Environmental Law, including its European and International considerations.
Moreover, it connects General Economic Law with questions regarding sustainability and ecological welfare and thereby offers new perspectives and Instruments to manage economic tasks.
The Institute specializes in the field of Law but often cooperates with other scientific disciplines. In addition, the Institute’s work has high practical relevance and includes the Advisory of governmental and private Institutes as well as cooperation with foreign partners.
Due to its multifaceted Network the Institute has collaborated on certain projects with the Berlin Science Centre, TU Munich, the University of Munich, Humboldt-University Berlin, the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment, and the Government of Swabia.
Its membership in the Environmental Science Centre (WZU) ensures transdisciplinary research and development of technology in the field of environmental science.
In 1999, the Institute for Environmental Law received excellent reviews from the Bavarian Ministry of Science and Art. It is still one of the leading research Institutes in Germany concerning Environmental Law.
