Frontiers Planet Prize 2026: Prof. Kunstmann is one of three nominated in Germany
Prof. Harald Kunstmann, a hydrologist, from the University of Augsburg belongs to a group of three German candidates nominated by the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) for the final global round of the Frontiers Planet Prize 2026. The prize honours academic breakthroughs that contribute to the stabilisation of the planet’s ecosystem.
How sex and gender shape research results
An international research group has published new recommendations in the renowned journal Nature Neuroscience for how biological sex differences (sex) and social gender aspects (gender) can be systematically integrated into research. The guidelines show why many studies up to now have overlooked important differences, which has consequences for diagnosis, therapy, and prevention.
Augsburg becomes focal point for environmental health research
The ceremonial opening of the Environmental Health Sciences Institute (EHSI) on the 28th of November 2025 marked an important milestone for the Faculty of Medicine. The institute, which is unique in Germany, strengthens future-orientated research in the Environmental Health Sciences.?
