In an era of significant global shifts, political disruptions and the ascendancy of Artificial Intelligence often relegate environmental issues to the background. Nevertheless, protecting our natural life-support systems remains a critical imperative for the international community. Strategies for advancing environmental conservation are diverse and geographically distinct, encompassing the ‘greening’ of human rights, the codification of the rights of nature, and the concept of state stewardship.
As the legal status of nature undergoes some fundamental transformation, this symposium seeks to explore these evolving dynamics. It invites legal scholars to critically examine the movement’s philosophical foundations, practical implications, and potential to reshape Environmental Law. Join us to debate the opportunities and limitations of this transformative approach, and explorre how legal systems worldwide respond to ecological crises.
